Tooth Extractions

Your teeth are meant to last a lifetime, but that is not always possible. Trauma, decay and disease can make it necessary to remove teeth when they pose a health risk. At Blooming Smiles Dental Studio, we always do everything in our power to help our patients retain their natural teeth with general dentistry. However, if extraction is necessary, we provide gentle, stress-free tooth removal for our patients.

Most tooth ailments can be repaired with root canal therapy or other dental treatments. But when the damage to the tooth is too great, it may need to be extracted. Most tooth extractions are simple, quick procedures. Dr. Duraes and our team will carefully examine x-rays of the tooth and surrounding structure to determine whether there are any possible complications and plan the extraction accordingly.

Many teeth can be removed within a few minutes. Some molars may take a little longer, as they can have up to four roots holding them in place. After the procedure, we will give you instructions to ensure the site heals properly and there is as little pain as possible.

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Wisdom teeth are one of the few teeth that are removed when they are new. The last of the molars to arrive, these third molars are prone to causing oral health issues. Most people receive their wisdom teeth in their early twenties or late teens. They can become impacted when there is not enough room for them to grow in correctly, causing pain, infection and alignment issues.

If you or your teen are experiencing issues with wisdom teeth, we offer removal at our Bloomington office. Dr. Duraes can remove one or all the wisdom teeth, depending on your situation. We will discuss sedation options during the consultation to ensure you or your child are comfortable during the procedure.
